Speaker 1
Here's your host, educator and noted talk media commentator, Dom Giordano.
Speaker 2
Hey everyone, welcome in to this week's edition of Old School, New School, Next School with Dom Giordano.
Speaker 2
Our weekly foray into all things parental rights, school choice.
Speaker 2
Very special guest today, an old friend even though he's young, Jack Posovic, who way back when at WWDB and then I think at Talk Radio 1210,
Speaker 2
had a multitude of roles and now is well he always has been a patriot and a big big media success so jack thank you very much you can be the teacher now when it comes to media success but i went back and i happen to see think getting ready to talk with you about school choice a tweet from charlie kirk that you followed up on talking about how big 2025 was and we'll talk about kirk in a moment
Speaker 2
Jack as far as pouncing on school choice big beautiful bill Trump administration so how do you think it's going at this point the opportunity is there in your mind are we succeeding enough on this issue well Dom once again thanks so much for having me on here and and and and I appreciate you not spilling the beans on me but I'll admit it that that people people should know
Speaker 3
I was the intern. I was the guy who had to go pick up the corn muffin with butter and toasted. You had to pick up Pat Buchanan, too, I remember. Yeah, I picked up Pat Buchanan and drove him down to meet you guys. And then I think we did Gino's when Joey Vento was still with us. I remember you were in a tizzy. You thought you might have been speeding or something to get Buchanan there. I remember it. I was not speeding. That guy pulled me over. I was not speeding.
Speaker 3
And I fought that down in Delco and I won that case. The guy just wanted to pull over a 1210 vehicle because he saw what it was. But a lot of great old stories and people say, you know, you got to start somewhere. So you might as well start as Dom Giordano's intern. And you could do a lot worse. Well, thank you, Jack. Thank you. So I mentioned Charlie Kirk and I mentioned School Choice and you've been on the ground in New Jersey. And I know you're a big family guy, among other things. And know your mom and dad through Georgia,
Speaker 2
which has been. Oh, yeah. Well, we've been in a couple of one event over her house for her son and then another. So, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We had a good long talk about them and they're thrilled with what you're doing. How big are we seeing school choice right now? I know we have gargantuan issues and I want to talk about the governor's race in school choice. What are your thoughts on it? Are we succeeding? Well, I would put it this way. We've I think we've won the public argument. And you look at the effort.
Speaker 3
that Charlie Kirk has made and did make all the way up until obviously his murder that he'd been fighting for this very hard. We saw, of course, that Congress was being, you know, had and Charlie was spearheading a thousand faith leaders to get Congress to pass the Educational Choice for Children Act as part of the One Big Beautiful Bill. They were able to get that in there. Charlie was, of course, always talking about this, ending the cartel and really just ending the idea of the
Speaker 3
of government control of education and the fact that it was by every standard it's a failure by every metric you could possibly look at uh uh graduation rates reading rates etc everybody knows this and and so that you know the very simple idea of is that it goes back to just a child zip code shouldn't determine their destiny what's great now is not only did we have the winning uh argument in the election not only do have we won the public you know debate about this but we've actually got in linda mcmahon
Speaker 3
And someone who's actually very serious when it comes to her role at the Department of Education, she really wants to turn this thing off. And the fact that they were able to get were able to get school choice into the one big, beautiful bill, I think is absolutely fantastic. Could we be doing more? Absolutely. Does the fight continue? Absolutely. Because these teachers unions that we're up against are very, very powerful. Everybody knows how powerful they are in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, in particular, right? Some states, they're not quite as powerful, but really, really,
Speaker 3
powerful in those sort of union stronghold states like PA and New Jersey.
Speaker 3
And so that's what, you know, when Charlie and I would talk about this, I would say, Charlie, you know, it's and he was from Illinois, so he knew the background there.
Speaker 3
But, you know, we'd go to some of the southern states and they just don't have the cartel the way that a lot of the northern states, the Rust Belt states do.
Speaker 3
And so this was a huge issue for him.
Speaker 3
And in fact, believe it or not, one of the things that the great many, you know, unfinished projects that Charlie left,
Speaker 3
He wanted to start a Turning Point Academy system where people could opt in as sort of a, you know, a homeschool co-op kind of curriculum that you could get. And he was working on getting it accredited. And then, of course, when the Biden Department of Education, boy, they rejected that so fast when they saw a turning point.
Speaker 2
Is there anybody taking that up?
Speaker 2
Because what homeschoolers need, you probably know, but for listeners, they can homeschool.
Speaker 2
But then if you have outlets matching them up with other kids and expertise and some kind of structure that helps the parents, whatever they want to buy into, that's utopia then.
Speaker 2
That's a good thing.
Speaker 3
Well, it absolutely is.
Speaker 3
And there's even some churches that do this now in areas where the church doesn't have a school anymore because, of course, we've seen so many Catholic school closures in the archdiocese over the last couple of years. But there's still churches and there's still students and a lot of teachers and parents who say that they don't want their kids to go in there. And so I think what you're really starting to see is a new development of the original one classroom schoolhouse.
Speaker 3
Right. Where people would come together. But and I've even heard of families getting together in these co-ops and then hiring a teacher, someone who they trust, someone who they think has their, you know, their kids right. You know, right interests at heart. And so I'll put it this way. Everest. But you got to two levers of this. Right. The two drivers were covid and then finding out what was going on in the actual schools, because the silver lining of covid, of course, was that people were going to be a school.
Speaker 3
could finally look over their kid's shoulder and say, OK, now you're on Zoom.
Speaker 3
What do you learn in that school room anyway?
Speaker 3
And we all remember the horror stories that were coming out of that.
Speaker 3
And so I think people, after having gone through the COVID experience, and here we are, I can't believe it's been five years now, but people are so much more receptive to the idea of being revolutionary and being experimental with different forms of education because they've seen how broken and absolutely broken the public school system is.
Speaker 2
Jack, you've been on the ground very generously in Wildwood and with the
Speaker 2
Chittarelli campaign and the governor's race. And he does often talk and he's talked on my show,
Speaker 2
the broader concept of parental rights, not just school choice. The governor in New Jersey
Speaker 2
has the power, really, it's weird, to create charter schools. His representative in the Department of Education,
Speaker 2
Phil Murphy has not done one charter school allowed in seven and a half years in a state like Jersey. Give us your sense of being on the ground with Cheddar Relly. You're you're have brought I think a young woman up from Rutgers where there's a battle with an Antifa professor to the stage. Give us a sense. Is it just as I see it a turnout race Jack. That's what's going to deter. It's going to be close. If we turn out we're going to win in Jersey. Well that's 100 percent true and that's right. So we were down
Speaker 3
in Wildwood together, you and I at that Wildwood rally. And then I went up this last weekend in, so that was up Bergen County. That was Dumont, New Jersey, right outside of Teaneck. Just beautiful towns and neighborhoods. You got a lot of Irish names, Italian names, a couple of Polak names like myself. And I said, what's interesting is that these are your sort of working class, blue collar communities, which they're traditionally Democrats.
Speaker 3
But because the Democrats have become so woke nationally and because they can see people like Phil Murphy, this, you know, and his tenure, those are the type of people that would turn out for Donald Trump. And this is why when you go and look at the county shift map, even on Wikipedia, it has this. If you look at the county shift map in 2024, every single county in the state of New Jersey shifted red, every single one. And that's because of this working class backbone that New Jersey has, which,
Speaker 3
Virginia, by the way, which is going on right now, they have more white collar, you know, because of the D.C. bubble. And so it's a different demographic, different metrics up there. But New Jersey still has this working class backbone, very similar to Pennsylvania. So New Jersey really, if they're able, if Cittarelli is able to tap into this and using these issues like parental rights, like the voucher program, like charter schools, which, you know, the governor of New Jersey is a very powerful governor.
Speaker 3
appoints his own attorney general. That's not something you see in other states.
Speaker 3
And has the ability to opt in. And what he wants to do, and I've looked at this model, it's incredible, he wants to opt into the new federal voucher program, which would take effect in 2027. That's something that would benefit every single family in New Jersey, regardless of, you know, it's not Republican families and Democrat families, it's all families.
Speaker 3
And so I think that's one of the main reasons you're seeing I think it's over a dozen Democrat elected officials have now come out and endorsed Chittarelli probably by the end of the time I'm talking to you it'll be another dozen more because the trend has continued in this favor. And at the time look at the same time though it's New Jersey right New Jersey is typically a blue state. So there's a lot. There's a lot that he has to overcome in terms of that. If someone's going to do it it's going to be Jack Chittarelli though. He's a phenomenal candidate. He's an incredible speaker.
Speaker 3
Mikey Sherrill, she's dull. I find her very dull. She doesn't connect with voters very well.
Speaker 2
I really find it ideologically hard to get fired up about her. To your point, it's so dull.
Speaker 2
Yes.
Speaker 2
That the juices don't flow. I mean, I oppose what she says is policy, but you're right. You can't get that worked up about her.
Speaker 3
She's just not a good candidate. So that's why what they're doing is what the Democrats have now done is they've embarked on this new strategy.
Speaker 3
And by the way, I'm just going to say it, the same desperate play that they tried with Kamala Harris at the end one year ago in Nationwide. And of course, she was going out and did her final rally at Philadelphia, which I infiltrated with my brother. And we were wearing our white dudes for Kamala Harris hats. And we made it all the way down to the art museum, basically. And then we switched it out for our MAGA hats. Everybody started screaming and losing it. We've got it all on video.
Speaker 3
And then and actually right after that, I hopped a plane and flew to Phoenix to be with Charlie that night. And we did a big live stream. And the plan that they're doing now is they're airlifting all of these national Democrats in from all around the country. They're bringing Barack Obama is now going to be there on November 1st. They just had Wes Moore, the governor of Maryland coming in. And I believe she did a fundraiser with Hillary Clinton, although that fundraiser,
Speaker 2
They wouldn't even bring her into Jersey. They did that over in New York City. So they're showing that her background, her support is coming from the National Democrat Party. It's not coming from the local party. The local Democrats, they're endorsing Gennerelli. They're all going for him. That's the tea leaves. Jack, so generous with your time today talking about this one final area that I'm really intrigued with, and you're in the center of it. What can you tell us about the alternative halftime show?
Speaker 3
We keep on scheming up. And did Danica Patrick give millions of dollars toward this? Or is that false? That's what I've heard. Oh, well, she has. She hasn't told me. Danica, we had her in the studio. And she's wonderful. She's been so sweet. And, you know, we got her and I got to meet, you know, last year in the election cycle and told her I actually got to see her race once down in Bristol. And she said, how'd I do? I said, I think you crashed.
Speaker 3
But that's Bristol. Bristol is like a fishbowl. Everybody crashes there. But no, I have not heard that and certainly can't confirm that from my end if that's true. I will say, though, there's been a lot of, you know, rumors flying around about this. People said Adam Sandler might be making an appearance even. The round of rumors are phenomenal. But, you know, and there's been some set lists and, you know, lists of musical artists that have come out. We have made zero announcements. So this all started
Speaker 3
with just a knee kind of going rogue on a couple podcasts and tweets and saying hey wouldn't it be great if turning point usa uh hosted a competing super bowl show and we invited creed to come and of course referencing that old uh thanksgiving halftime show they did in the 2000s with the flying capers and the acrobatics and just this huge pro-american display uh all i'll say all i can say is we've been having conversations we've been having conversations with very
Speaker 3
very well-known national acts, household names, but no announcements, unfortunately. I can't make any announcements. That's okay. When I do, I promise I will text you. Oh, yeah. Well, we'll get you on. But the platforming, how would this be done? I know nothing's set in stone. I mean, if I were Fox or Newsmax. That's a question that we're working on. Yeah. That's a question that we're working on. So, obviously, we're going to stream this. We'd love to stream this on Rumble, which is our typical streaming partner. They don't censor the way that YouTube,
Speaker 3
does. We may partner with a network in terms of that. Again, we have to be careful with the legalities because you can't say sporting event halftime show. We can't legally make references to that other sporting event, which will be happening at the same time. But people know that they do the pet food halftime show and all the other halftime shows that go on. So as long as we make sure to do it with that. But what I think I would end up
Speaker 3
doing, you know, and this is just what I've sort of pitched is, you know, maybe you have a pre-show and have a certain select number of bands that play during the pre-show, and then the game, you know, takes place, and then so during the game, maybe we have some other content, but not non-musical content, maybe have some other things, and then the finale would be the, you know, would be the halftime show itself, because I understand, you know, you gotta figure you'll have a split audience.
Speaker 3
Some people want to watch the game. Some people want to the sporting event. Some people would want to not and would want to see something in person. So we'll it's it again. These are just conversations. Yeah, having. Well, I think you can withdraw millions of people. I think exactly. It's there. And well, we it's the interest is, you know, through the roof from the moment I first said anything publicly interest been through the roof from media, from sponsors, from donors. People have people have been very
Speaker 3
and very supportive of this in a way that I honestly haven't, of all the crazy ideas I have, this is the biggest thing I think I've ever just sort of popped off on.
Speaker 2
And I wanted to compliment to the memory of Charlie Kirk. You know talk radio skews a bit older. We try 2554 and all that. The event we did in Wildwood with, say, 1,500 people in total or more was so much younger and so much more spiritual. That's the thing that got people going.
Speaker 2
It was so noticeable. That's right. Different than any political campaign or talk radio event that I've done. I didn't see people, as many people in their late 20s, early 30s, and as much spirituality mixed in as the main message. And that's Charlie Kirk. And you tapped into it beautifully that night. Well, thank you. And that's clearly Charlie's effect. I mean, when we were at that, the memorial for Charlie, it was more of a spiritual event, a revival.
Speaker 3
they're calling it then a political event and even when i was on the stage i you know i made some political comments and i obviously was referring to charlie's work in that vein and you know you would get applause but when i started talking more about my faith as a catholic when i held up the rosary when i you know made references to how we need to put on the spiritual armor of god that's what the crowd really responded to and you could tell that's what they wanted they you know the political is you know it's a it's a symptom it's an out
Speaker 3
But in reality, I think you really do see this public spirituality. And what was amazing was then, so the vice president then gives a speech that is incredibly spiritual. And then even Donald Trump Jr. gives a speech where he's making references to the Bible. I said, my goodness, you got the Trumps opening the gospel. I mean, that's not exactly something to know for.
Speaker 2
That's Don Trump Jr. I've done an event with him. Yeah, that is unusual. That is a miracle. Hey, Jack, thank you so much. Thanks for joining us today.
Speaker 2
and continued success.
